This is the way that you and your team are to conduct themselves and this is also the way in which our debates shall go about. Please Read!
1. The senior member of the forum will open a discussion. This will either be lead by the forum leader or staff but in some cases a member with high ranking or who is seen as wise and mature might open a discussion.
2. The senior member or person designated will open a discussion by asking the members if there are any matters that they wish the forum to discuss.
3. Once a subject has been decided upon the forum will have a preliminary vote to divide the forum members into groups depending upon their vote of pro, con, or undecided.
4. After the groups are made a lead spoke person will be decided in each group and this person will represent the group as a whole. They will give the opening stance of a group, the closing statement and they will also give a statement or opinion during the discussion.
5. During a discussion members will be given time to create a thread in which they are allowed to share ideas as a whole. Remember threads can be seen by everyone so if you have something to share that is important and that you wish that the opposing team(s) not see then send it through P.M. or private chat.
6. Every member of the team must say at least one statement during the discussion. If you have missed in saying something then you will be allowed to say it when your next team member is up.
7. Your team will be given time for a rebuttal of a statement or opinion made by the opposing team. Your team might either take this chance to counter a point or you may pass and the next member will be given the floor.
8. The way that members of the teams will talk is that one member of a team will speak then after that person is finished a member of the opposing team will speak. Depending on the number of teams the team that began the discussion will talk once all the teams have given their first statement.
9. The person in charge of the discussion will be the senior or chosen member who has started the discussion. They will not take part in the discussion rather they are to listen to both sides of the argument and upon listening to the matters of fact they can either consult the forum leader(s) or staff on the decision either through P.M. or private chat. They can also make a decision without consulting the staff. If however there is hint of bias the verdict will be overruled and the staff will discuss the matter with the senior member and a new verdict will be decided.
10. Be respectful throughout the entire debate do not shout out opinions or insults nor are teams permitted to bad mouth the opposing team(s). Keep things civil if anyone is acting out then that person will be disciplined and the group leader will be asked to keep his/her team under control. You might lose an entire debate based on the manner in which your team conducts itself not merely on the facts that you have presented.
